Qu'est-ce qu'un schéma URI ?

Un schéma URI est le premier composant d'un identifiant uniforme de ressource (URI) qui identifie le protocole ou le mécanisme utilisé pour accéder à une ressource. Le schéma est suivi de deux-points (:) et d'un chemin spécifique au schéma. Par exemple, dans https://example.com, le schéma est https. Les schémas sont enregistrés auprès de l'IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) et peuvent être des standards permanents, des propositions provisoires ou des conventions non officielles utilisées par des applications et plateformes spécifiques.

URI vs URL vs URN

Un URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) est la catégorie la plus large — toute chaîne identifiant une ressource. Un URL (Uniform Resource Locator) est un URI qui fournit aussi un moyen de localiser la ressource (comme http://). Un URN (Uniform Resource Name) est un URI qui nomme une ressource sans préciser comment y accéder (comme urn:isbn:0451450523). Tous les URL sont des URI, mais tous les URI ne sont pas des URL. Les statuts de schémas expliqués

Les schémas URI sont classés selon leur statut d'enregistrement auprès de l'IANA. Les schémas permanents sont pleinement normalisés via le processus RFC et largement adoptés. Les schémas provisoires ont été soumis à l'IANA mais peuvent ne pas être totalement normalisés. Les schémas historiques étaient autrefois utilisés mais sont désormais obsolètes (comme gopher et wais). Les schémas non officiels sont des conventions largement répandues (comme docker://, npm:, market://) qui n'ont pas été formellement enregistrées auprès de l'IANA.
