How do I log a blood pressure reading?
Click the "Log New Reading" button, enter your systolic and diastolic numbers (in mmHg), optionally add your pulse rate and any notes. Set the date and time (defaults to now), then click "Save Reading". Your reading will appear in the table and update the trend chart automatically.
What do the blood pressure categories mean?
The categories follow standard medical guidelines: Normal (systolic < 120 and diastolic < 80), Elevated (systolic 120-129 and diastolic < 80), High Stage 1 (systolic 130-139 or diastolic 80-89), High Stage 2 (systolic >= 140 or diastolic >= 90), and Crisis (systolic >= 180 or diastolic >= 120). If you get a Crisis reading, please seek medical attention immediately.
Can I track my pulse along with blood pressure?
Yes. The form includes an optional pulse field (in bpm). When you log pulse readings, the stats panel shows your average pulse alongside your blood pressure averages. Pulse data is completely optional - you can log just systolic and diastolic if you prefer.
How are the averages calculated?
Averages are calculated from all readings within the selected time period (7 days or 30 days). The tool sums all systolic readings and divides by the total count, and does the same for diastolic and pulse. Only readings with pulse data count toward the pulse average.
What does the trend chart show?
The trend chart plots your systolic (red line) and diastolic (blue line) readings over time. Each data point represents a single reading with its date and time visible on hover. The chart automatically adjusts to fit your data range and requires at least 2 readings to display.
Is my blood pressure data private?
Absolutely. All data is stored in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device. No servers, no cloud sync, no third-party access. You can delete individual readings or clear all data at any time. Your health information stays completely under your control.
Can I use this tool offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the Blood Pressure Log works entirely offline. You can log readings, view your table and chart, and review stats without an internet connection. All data persists in your browser until you clear it.
Can I delete individual readings?
Yes. Hover over any reading in the table to reveal the delete button (trash icon). Click it to remove that single reading. You can also clear all readings at once using the "Clear all data" button at the top of the stats area.
What should I do if I get a high reading?
A single high reading may not be cause for concern - blood pressure naturally fluctuates. Check the trend over several days. If your readings are consistently in the high range, consult your healthcare provider. If you see a Crisis reading (systolic >= 180 or diastolic >= 120), seek emergency medical attention immediately.
