Why Use Our Group Message Splitter?

Platform-Optimised Splitting

Split messages for SMS (160 chars), WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Messenger, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, email subjects, and custom limits. Each platform has its correct character limit pre-configured.

Word-Boundary Intelligence

Our splitter respects word boundaries so your chunks never cut off mid-word. Each chunk is cleanly separated at the last space before the character limit, making the split result readable and professional.

100% Private & Local

All message splitting happens entirely in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored, or transmitted - it never leaves your device. No account, no tracking, no server.

One-Click Copy Any Chunk

Copy individual chunks with a single click, or copy all chunks at once with separators. Each chunk shows a visual fill bar so you can see exactly how full it is at a glance.

Customer Support Responses

Craft detailed customer support replies that exceed platform character limits. Split into readable chunks with numbering so customers can follow the full response in order.

Social Media Content Planning

Prepare long-form content for Twitter/X threads, LinkedIn posts, or Instagram captions. See exactly how your message will split across each platform's character limits before posting.

Educational & Training Messages

Send lesson summaries, study materials, or training instructions via messaging platforms. The numbered chunk system helps recipients follow multi-part educational content in the right sequence.

Newsletter & Broadcast Prep

Prepare newsletter content, event invitations, or broadcast messages that need to fit within SMS or messaging platform character limits. Preview the split before sending to subscribers.

Understanding the Group Message Splitter

What is a Group Message Splitter?

A group message splitter is a tool that breaks long messages into smaller chunks that fit within the character limits of specific messaging platforms. Different platforms have different limits - SMS allows 160 characters per segment, Discord allows 2,000, Telegram allows 4,096, and WhatsApp allows up to 65,536. The splitter ensures your message is readable by splitting at word boundaries and optionally numbering each chunk so the recipient can read them in order.

How Our Message Splitter Works

Paste or type your long message into the text area, select the target platform (or set a custom character limit), and choose whether to add numbering prefixes. The tool instantly splits your message into chunks, respecting word boundaries so no chunk cuts off mid-word. Each chunk shows its character count and a visual fill bar. You can copy individual chunks or copy all chunks at once with separator lines between them - all processing runs locally in your browser.

Understanding Platform Character Limits

Each messaging platform has different constraints: SMS uses 160 characters per segment (153 for multi-part concatenated SMS). Twitter/X allows 280 characters per post. Discord and Facebook Messenger limit messages to 2,000 characters. Telegram allows up to 4,096 characters per message. WhatsApp has a practical limit of 65,536 characters. Instagram captions are limited to 2,200 characters, and LinkedIn posts to 3,000. For email subject lines, RFC 5322 recommends keeping under 998 characters for maximum compatibility.

Privacy, Security & Availability

Your privacy is important. Our group message splitter processes everything locally in your browser - your message text is never uploaded, stored, or shared. There are no file size limits, no signup required, and the tool is completely free to use forever. Since everything runs client-side, it works even without an internet connection after the initial page load.

Frequently Asked Questions About Group Message Splitter

What is a Group Message Splitter and why would I need one?
A group message splitter breaks long messages into smaller chunks that fit within the character limits of messaging platforms like SMS (160 chars), Discord (2,000 chars), Telegram (4,096 chars), and others. You need one when your message exceeds a platform's limit - instead of manually cutting and pasting, the splitter handles word-boundary splitting and numbering automatically.
Does the splitter cut off words mid-way?
No. Our message splitter uses word-boundary splitting - it finds the last space before the character limit and splits cleanly at that point. This ensures every chunk starts and ends with complete words, making the split result readable without awkward mid-word breaks.
How does the chunk numbering work?
When numbering is enabled, each chunk is prefixed with its position, like [1/5], [2/5], etc. The numbering adjusts dynamically - if the split results in more or fewer chunks than initially estimated, the numbers update to reflect the correct totals. This helps recipients read the chunks in the correct order.
Is my message data safe when using this tool?
Absolutely. The group message splitter runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your message text is never uploaded to any server, stored in any database, or transmitted over the network. All processing happens locally on your device - your message never leaves your computer.
What character limits does the tool support?
The tool supports SMS (160 chars), multi-part SMS (153 chars), Twitter/X (280 chars), Discord (2,000 chars), Facebook Messenger (2,000 chars), Telegram (4,096 chars), WhatsApp (65,536 chars), Instagram captions (2,200 chars), LinkedIn posts (3,000 chars), Reddit (40,000 chars), and email subject lines (998 chars). You can also set a custom character limit for any other platform.
How is multi-part SMS different from standard SMS?
Standard SMS segments are 160 characters. When a message exceeds 160 characters, it must be sent as multiple SMS segments that are reassembled by the recipient's phone. However, each segment in a multi-part SMS uses 7 characters for concatenation headers (UDH), reducing the available space to 153 characters per segment. Our splitter accounts for this when you select the "SMS (Multi-part)" option.
Can I copy all chunks at once?
Yes. Click the "Copy All Chunks" button at the top of the split result section to copy every chunk to your clipboard with "---" separator lines between them. You can also copy individual chunks by hovering over a chunk and clicking the "Copy" button that appears in its header.
What happens if a single word is longer than the character limit?
In the rare case that a single word (like a long URL or technical term) exceeds the character limit, the splitter performs a hard split at the limit. This is the only scenario where a word may be broken mid-way - for all other cases, word-boundary splitting ensures clean breaks between words.
