Bekannte Ports sind Portnummern von 0 bis 1023, die von der IANA bestimmten Diensten zugewiesen wurden. Sie sind für weit verbreitete Protokolle wie HTTP (Port 80), HTTPS (443), SSH (22) und DNS (53) reserviert.
TCP garantiert die Zustellung und sorgt dafür, dass Daten in der richtigen Reihenfolge ankommen. UDP ist schneller, garantiert die Zustellung aber nicht. TCP wird für Web-Browsing und E-Mail genutzt, UDP für DNS, Videostreaming und Gaming.
